3-Day ‘True Spirit of Mediumship’ Course

Hi Friends! Tomorrow is the LAST of our 3-Day Intensive Mediumship Course at South Woodford SNU Church. The course has been specifically designed for anyone on the mediumship pathway who is serious about working for Spirit as a Platform Medium (particularly Divine Services) and Private Sittings Medium. The order and dates of training days are as follows:

PLEASE NOTE: YOU ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND THE LAST SESSION AS A STAND ALONE SESSION, BUT IF YOU HAVEN'T ATTENDED THE FIRST TWO COURSE DAYS, YOU CAN'T ATTEND THE THE TRAINEE 'WORKING' MEDIUMS WEEKEND IN NOVEMBER.

3.    Sunday 3^rd November 2013 – 10.30am to 5.00pm (Platform Mediumship Demonstrating)

Cost: £15 per day (£40 in total if you attend all 3 days – a £5 saving!)

Please bring your own lunch so you do not need to go out and buy it (limited break times)

Each day will be a practical practice/activity based workshop covering the Inspirational Address, Demonstrating Mediumship (Evidence of Survival) and positive, professional private one to one sittings. At the end of the 3 workshop days we have arranged a ‘fledglings’ (trainees) weekend for students who have attended at least two of the full days of training. These will be as follows:

1.    Saturday 9^th November – 6.00pm to 9.00pm Students Evening of Platform Mediumship

2.    Sunday 10^th November – 12.30pm to 4.30pm Students One to One Sittings Event

(Both events will be attended by members of the public so you can practice your skills with ‘real’ people, lol! Feel free to bring friends and family along to receive messages!)

A Wonderful Evening at

Open Spiritual Development Group

(in honour of Andrew Jackson Davis - A Pioneer of the Spiritualism Movement)

Wow, what a fantastic evening at our group tonight! We brought back to life the age-old technique of mesmerism for trance healing. This is such a powerful approach to work with; 

(but under no circumstances must it be used without a full knowledge and understanding of the whole process and how energy works - preferably with an experienced teacher!).

The concept began with mesmerizing itself, which was discovered in its famous form by Franz Anton Mesmer, a well-known Hypnotist in the 1700's. It spread across the world over the next 100 years and during that time a pioneering figure in the Spiritualism Movement also discovered it in 1843 in a small town near Orange County, New York. His name was Andrew Jackson Davis.

He discovered the rare ability to be able to go into a trance-like state through being mesmerized by a qualified physician. Whilst in this altered state, he was able to diagnose, suggest treatments and sometimes heal his 'clients', he named this state of being 'the Superior Condition' (DeSalvo 2005).

It was this condition that we were 'experimenting with yesterday evening (working in pairs) in our group with the techniques that were used all those years ago. It proved to be a very powerful evening indeed and the energy that was created was channeled into healing, a form of trance healing. Every student who attended was able to both mesmerize their partner and in turn, be mesmerized to feel the experience for themselves. All involved said that their encounter was amazing and really meaningful experience.

Once again I (Shelley) am in complete awe of the Spirit World and their brilliant synchronicity in teaching!! Last evening was the first part of two sessions I am running and I had a plan for the evening of working with Mediumship, and indeed we did, but so not in the way I expected!

We began with a deep intensive power meditation in which my fabulous students needed to ask about their personal mediumship journey, ie, 'my own spiritual pathway: where is going and how do I take the next step?'. The meditation involved opening up with total faith, our hearts and souls, to be guided by our teachers and inspirers in the Spirit World.


The plan was then to do a group connection and work with Spiirt messages but our Higher Teachers had other ideas and it felt absolutely right to continue putting trust in their plan for the evening! I asked everyone to sit for a moment in the quiet and get in touch with their own heart and sense of self. Their focus was on their personal mediumistic journey:

1. What do you want from your development?
2. What do you feel is really holding you back?
3. What do you need right now to take the next step?

On the face of it, these are fairly typical questions.......but what happens when you open your heart and soul in absolute faith and honesty to receive TRUTHFUL answers...........

It was an evening of self-revelation of deep rooted fears, obstacles and personal barriers that many students came to honestly face up to and together we looked at each of them in detail and talked them through, including ways to allow them, work through them and then let them go!! Sounds simple doesn't it............but is it really so simple? That is up to you.

This was an introduction to our next session of honest and meaningful mediumistic working, which is on the agenda for next week. In order to be honest and true to Spirit it is vital to be true to oneself, is it not? I finally set a homework task of choosing someone in the group (not necessarily having to tell their chosen person) and to go away with new found honesty and understanding (including discipline) to make a connection for them. This is a connection to a loved one in Spirit for their chosen fellow student, to practice connections, not with self-limitation or 'fear', but with confidence, humility and awareness. I promised to check in with each and every student when they next come to group (if not next week) to see how they got on.

It is a day of intensive mediumship practice and development. I work with integrity towards the Arthur Findlay College (Stansted) teachings and standards (I have been going to courses there myself for over 11 years), this means encouraging students to really push the boundaries of their mediumship and 'think outside the box' when connecting to Spirit - giving valuable and detailed messages.

I work with many interesting and active practical exercises to improve mediumship connections and focus for working with Spirit. Also exercises to gain more detailed information from the Spirit World for their recipients.

Most importantly, I strongly believe in encouraging humility and integrity in working for Spirit and with good and loving intentions.
